Why did you start your practice? / What drew you to do this work?
Starting my practice as a doula stemmed from a deep passion for supporting women and their partners through the transformative journey of pregnancy and postpartum. Having experienced motherhood myself, I understand what you need around to feel supported. This understanding, coupled with my background in the medical industry and my ongoing studies to become a midwife, propelled me to become a doula. I wanted to offer holistic support that encompasses not only physical care but also emotional and mental well-being during this crucial period. I want to close the gap between a home birth and hospital birth. Because every mum deserves to feel loved and supported while she’s growing and settling.
What drew me to this work is the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of families during such a significant time. The prospect of being able to provide unwavering support, guidance, and empowerment to mothers and their partners resonated deeply with me. Empowering experiences for families is incredibly fulfilling.
What do enjoy the most about your work?
The aspect I enjoy the most about my work is witnessing the strength and resilience of women as they navigate through pregnancy and postpartum. Being able to be there for them, offering support, encouragement, and a non-judgmental space, is immensely rewarding. Seeing families bond and grow stronger through the process is heart-warming.
What is the most memorable thing you can tell someone about your job?
One of the most memorable things I can share about my job is witnessing mummas find strength in who she is and in motherhood. Witnessing mother be at her best through love and support.
Based on your area of expertise, what can you share with our followers around postpartum care?
In terms of postpartum care, it's essential for new mothers to prioritise self-care and seek support when needed. This period can be challenging as mothers adjust to their new roles and responsibilities while recovering from childbirth. Some actionable tips include practicing self-compassion, asking for help from friends and family, prioritising rest and nutrition, being conscious who you invite into your space and the energy they bring. Education about the postpartum period is crucial for both mothers and their partners to ensure a smoother transition and better mental health outcomes.
