At GROW, our commitment is to guide and empower individuals and families through the intricate initial phases of early parenthood; pregnancy, loss, birth, and postpartum. Our approach is holistic, combining evidence-based education, intentional support, and a like minded community to ensure that every person feels empowered and informed. From expert-led masterclasses and intimate circles to curated resources and vibrant online forums, we provide a comprehensive toolkit to navigate the complexities of these seasons. With a focus on informed decision-making, holistic well-being, and respectful care, GROW is your steadfast companion on the path to encouraging a positive and empowering birth and postpartum experience. We recognise the importance of continuity of care, particularly outside of the hospital setting, understanding that most individuals birth in this environment in Australia. Providing intentional support and a consistent evidence-based narrative throughout every phase of your early parenting journey is at the heart of what we do at GROW.

Please tell us a bit about yourself and the work that you do.

I'm deeply passionate about holistic wellness, particularly in the realms of pregnancy, loss, birth, and postpartum. As a postpartum doula, I have the privilege of supporting individuals and families during their initial parenting journey, providing evidence-based education, intentional support, and empowering them to make informed choices aligned with their values and preferences. With the upcoming launch of GROW, I'm excited to expand the impact of my work by creating a community platform that fosters connection, support, education and empowerment for individuals navigating the complexities of early parenthood.

Through your work/business what is the impact that you hope to make and why?

My aim is to empower individuals and families as they navigate the seasons of early parenthood. Through intentional support, evidence-based education, and the cultivation of a like minded community, I aspire to foster a culture where individuals feel confident, knowledgeable, and empowered to make informed choices that align with their values and preferences. Ultimately, I hope to see families embracing early parenthood with a sense of agency, resilience, and holistic well-being, knowing they have the resources and support they need to thrive.

How would you say you arrived into finding your purpose?

My path to discovering my purpose in this field was shaped by a combination of personal experiences, extensive research, and a profound desire to make a positive impact in the lives of others during pivotal moments. As I navigated my own journey through pregnancy, birth and postpartum I became increasingly aware of the need for consistency, evidence-based care and intentional support throughout these phases. Through self-reflection, continuous learning, and hands-on experience, I gradually realised that advocating for holistic wellness and informed decision-making in pregnancy, loss, birth and postpartum was where my passion truly lay.

How do you balance your social life, work life, health, family?

Maintaining balance across my social life, work commitments, health, and family responsibilities is an ongoing practice that I approach with intentionality and self-awareness. I prioritise tasks and commitments, delegate responsibilities when possible, and schedule dedicated time for self-care activities such as exercise, meditation, and relaxation. Additionally, I make a conscious effort to nurture my relationships with loved ones by scheduling regular quality time together and staying connected even during busy periods. By implementing these strategies and remaining flexible to adjust as needed, I strive to create a harmonious balance that allows me to thrive both personally and professionally.

What do you do in order for you to carve out some time for yourself?

Ensuring I carve out time for myself is vital for maintaining balance and well-being amidst life's demands and as a sole trader and mother. I've found that scheduling dedicated self-care activities, such as taking short breaks throughout the day, engaging in regular exercise or yoga sessions, indulging in creative hobbies, and setting aside moments for mindfulness or meditation, helps me recharge and stay grounded. By intentionally incorporating these practices into my routine, I'm able to nurture my mental, emotional, and physical health, allowing me to show up as my best self in both my personal and professional life.

What do you do to get yourself into a state of creativity?

For me, creativity thrives in moments of quiet reflection and inspiration. I often find myself immersing myself in nature, whether it's taking leisurely walks in the park or sitting by a tranquil body of water, to reconnect with my inner muse. Additionally, I've discovered that mindfulness meditation practices not only cultivate a sense of calm but also spark imaginative ideas and insights. Exploring new artistic pursuits, such as painting, writing, or experimenting with photography, allows me to express myself freely and tap into my creative potential. Embracing spontaneity and allowing myself to follow where inspiration leads has also proven invaluable in nurturing my creativity.

Reflect on your journey, what have you learnt through your motherhood journey and what advice would you give mothers?

Motherhood is a journey filled with ups and downs, challenges, and beautiful moments of joy. As mothers, we often find ourselves caught in the whirlwind of emotions and responsibilities, yearning for a safe space to share our thoughts and feelings. Trusting our intuition and inner voice becomes crucial amidst the noise of expectations and societal pressures. Self worth.

Reflecting on my personal journey as a mother, I've come to realise the power of embracing imperfection. The quest for perfection can be overwhelming, but authenticity and self-acceptance bring a sense of freedom and fulfillment, especially in motherhood. Each experience, whether smooth or bumpy, shapes us into the mothers we are meant to be and there is something truly beautiful about that.

Transitioning from one child to two opened my eyes to new challenges I hadn't anticipated. The emotional toll, managing guilt, and balancing the needs of multiple children can feel like an overwhelming task. It's during these moments that seeking support and sharing our struggles with other mothers becomes invaluable.

In the midst of it all, I've learned that there's no one-size-fits-all approach to motherhood. Trusting ourselves, going with our gut instincts, and being true to who we are as mothers is what truly matters. It's okay to have moments of uncertainty and vulnerability because they make us stronger and more resilient. That's the bond we should all hold as mothers, the power.

So, to all the mothers out there, remember that you're not alone on this journey. Embrace your imperfections, trust your instincts, and know that there's beauty in every step of motherhood, no matter how challenging it may seem. We're all in this together, supporting and empowering each other along the way.
